SPRING SOCCER

A Spring soccer program is available for players in the U-10 and U-12 age groups.

Spring Soccer is a more competitive environment than the Fall league but its main purpose is player development and the main goal is for the kids to learn and HAVE FUN.

The Spring season runs from approximately February to June depending on the tournament schedules.  2010 League Games start April 1 and run through May 31 (tentative)

Any player that played in U10 or U12 divisions this fall are eligible to try out for a competitive Spring team.  All players who want to play in Spring are required to try out even if they played last Spring.  Tryouts are typically held in November.

Spring teams play in the Toiyabe League and also in Tournaments.  Some tournaments may require travel.  Most games are played at Edmonds Field in Carson City, however games may be scheduled at any AYSO sanctioned field.  Some inter-league games will be played in the Reno/Sparks area as well.

 TOIYABE LEAGUE FAQ

What is a Toiyabe team?

First thing to know is that a Toiyabe team is an AYSO team. It is subject to all of the rules and regulations that govern AYSO. These include (but are not limited to): each player being offered the opportunity to play in at least half of each match; positive coaching; good sportsmanship. Toiyabe teams are sponsored (or sanctioned) by their home AYSO regions.
Toiyabe teams are "coach-select" teams. Unlike the balanced teams of the fall, coaches are free to ask players to play on their team. Players are free to accept or decline, as they wish. Some regions choose to simply extend the balanced team concept to their Toiyabe teams. This is fine too.

Toiyabe teams are AYSO teams. This means that all players must be registered in the previous fall season (which actually considered the current season by AYSO – its season runs from fall to fall). Players who did not play in the fall may request a one-time waiver (meaning they will NEVER be granted another waiver) from the Section Director and appropriate Regional Commissioner.

What do I need to send? Where do I send it?

Coaches need to obtain the permission of their Regional Commissioner to participate. Gather your players and verify their eligibility to play in Toiyabe.  Age divisions are based upon the player’s division in the previous Fall season.

Prepare an appropriate check. No fees means no team!

Fill out the Toiyabe Team Application packet.  Contact the Regional Commissioner from your region to get the application.

Where are games played?

Most games are played at Edmonds Field in Carson City. This is because of the weather and the availability of these fields through Carson City AYSO. However, games can be played on any regionally sanctioned field. For instance, Bishop typically has no problem with snow during the spring, and loves to have teams come down and play. Some inter-league games will be played in the Reno/Sparks area as well.

Who runs the League?

The Toiyabe League is run by the staff of AYSO Area 2F.  Area 2F is made up of the Carson City, Carson Valley, Fallon, Bishop, Mammoth, Truckee, South Lake Tahoe and Incline Village AYSO regions.

The Area 2F Board of Directors helps with the League, but we really need far more assistance! For instance, each age-gender division needs a coordinator to collect score cards, answer questions, help set schedules with coaches, and so forth.

So, some of the positions and help that are needed always are:

-Division Coordinators (U10G, U10B, U12G, U12B)
-Mini-tournament coordinator
-Medals and awards
-T-shirt design and ordering
-Field manager (for Edmonds)

Like all AYSO activities, the League is a volunteer operation.
